Easy Outlet Upgrade
A few weeks ago I shared on Instagram how I upgrade my outlets and light switches without an electrician. I don’t have any electrical knowledge other than I know it can be dangerous and to not mess with it. A few years ago I found a simple and affordable solution that I can do in under a minute. Living in a fixer upper, there is always a lot of projects that need to get done. I used to ask my Dad to switch out all the outdated beige outlet and light fixtures for me. He was always happy to help, but even he agrees this outlet upgrade alternative is a great solution.
Full disclosure, if you know how to properly replace outlet and light switch fixtures then this DIY may not be fore you. BUT, if you are like me and don’t want to mess with electrical, then you’re going to like this! A few years ago I found outlet covers and light switch covers that upgrade the fixtures with just a screw or two. I have used these covers throughout our home since I discovered them. How to easily replace an electrical outlet
If you don’t have any electrical knowledge or experience, you might wonder “Can I replace an outlet myself?” Yes, with these covers it is easy to upgrade both outlets and light switch fixtures. Just use a flat head screwdriver to remove the original plate and replace it with the new cover. These outlet and light switch covers completely cover the original fixture underneath, preventing the need to rewire a new fixture. They come in several different options, so you’ll likely be able to find what you need to easily upgrade your fixtures.
