#ad I'm not going to lie, we have always struggled with our kitchen compost scraps. We aren't good at dumping them daily and end up with a swarm of fruit flies 🤢 Thanks to our new Lomi, we can turn our kitchen scraps into ready to use compost in as little as 3 hours! It might be freezing outside but seed starting has begun so spring is on my mind. I added some faux plants to the living room to decorate until it's time to use fresh cut flowers. Cozy blankets and spring vibes are my favorite right now.

Soil blocking is a great way to make the most out

Soil blocking is a great way to make the most out of your seed starting set up. Each set contains 20 squares and you can fit hundreds of squares on a cookie sheet.

Plant a seed per square and keep moist until they germinate. Once the seedlings need more room just transplant them to a larger soil block or container.

This method allows you to fit way more seedlings on your heat mat. It also saves you from the tedious process of pricking out seedlings with the paper towel method or wasting space in a cell tray on seeds that don't germinate.

Did you know you can grow your own chamomile tea?

Did you know you can grow your own chamomile tea? Just source seeds (I got mine from @bakercreekseeds but I also just saw them at my local @homedepot). You can start them indoors next to a sunny window 4-6 weeks before your last frost or plant them directly in your garden. They need light to germinate, so don't cover the seeds with soil. Water to keep the soil moist, not saturated, and enjoy these beautiful daisy like blooms in only 60 days. Chamomile is technically an annual, but it re-seeds easily and comes back on its own every year in my garden. To make your own tea, just pick the flower heads and let them dry completely on the counter or in a dehydrator. Steep 1 teaspoon per cup of water for 5 minutes. I like to enjoy mine with fresh lemon juice and local raw honey.
