There’s nothing like an estate sale at an old historic home to start off the New Year right! Check out my antique finds from the first estate sale haul of 2020.
Estate Sale Antique Haul
Old Home Obsessed
I love estate sales for the obvious reason of finding unique antiques on a budget, but I also love being able to explore the inside of old homes. This sale was no exception. Exploring the attic, searching through the basement, walking up the grand staircase, and passing through room after room of original doors, hardware, and molding made my antique loving heart happy.
I had a feeling I would find a lot of treasures at this sale, but the reality was even better than expectations! This is a glimpse of majority of my finds, but I have a few more not pictured that I will be sharing soon!
Prep Work
Before going to this sale, I looked at all 470 online pictures at least 5 different times to prepare. I had my top items picked out and knew exactly where to find them so I did’t waste any time once I got there. Antique Haul
I found a lot of great “essentials” at this sale. By that, I mean items that I use often in decor that I like to have multiples of to use in small collections throughout the house. For example, I found a collection of small vintage flags, paint brushes, clay pots, books, glass jars, and metal hooks.
My Favorite Finds
I scored big at this sale, so it’s hard to pick favorites, but a few items stood out as real treasures. The first is this antique wood duck decoy. If you follow along on Instagram stories, you might remember that I shared about my newly found and unexplained love for these decoys that I learned very quickly are way out of my antiquing budget. I found this guy in the basement and scored him for only $2! UNREAL! That being said, my wooden duck decoy collection has officially begun!
My mom went with me to this sale and while I was busy picking in the basement, she found this antique claw foot tub soap caddy in the garage. It has a stamp dating it to 1899. For only $1, this was another hard to find item that was priced right!
Another favorite find was this large vintage flag that was only $5. After moving my other vintage flag from room to room last July, I knew I needed to add to my collection. How cool would it be to have a vintage flag in every room at the farmhouse for all our patriotic holidays?
That sums up most of my antique finds from my first estate sale of 2020. I can’t wait to show you the others that weren’t included here. One of them needs a bit of work but will be for the master bedroom when it is all done.
Thank you so much for checking out my first antique haul of 2020. It means the world to have you here on the blog! Be sure to follow along on Instagram for daily inspiration and updates. You can also follow me on Pinterest for more inspiration and farmhouse ideas.
