Welcome to Part 2 of the Master Bedroom Reveal!
As I sit on my bed writing this blog post sharing the final reveal of our Victorian style farmhouse master bedroom it still feels surreal that this room is finally complete! I saw the potential in this room when we first looked at the house but I underestimated the amount of work it would take to get it to where it is today. We are just days away from our 1 year move in anniversary, and what a better way to celebrate than by sharing this room on the blog?!
Master Bedroom Theme
This room is part of the 1899 addition. While the original part of the house has more of a Federal Farmhouse style, the addition took a more Victorian Farmhouse style. The original tin ceilings in this room are definitely the main highlight and what helped to determine the theme of the room; Victorian with a simple farmhouse feel.
Attention to Detail
So much time and detail went into the restoration of this room that I knew decorating would be just as important. That is why I have spent months collecting the perfect antiques to fill this room. From the vintage theater seats, wooden bed frame, and antique dresser, each piece was specifically chosen for this room.
Recent Antique Finds
Just this last week I hinted on Instagram that I found two antiques that I couldn’t wait to share as part of the master bedroom reveal. The first was the vintage wooden easel to the right of the fireplace. It reminded me of the one Liz Marie has in her den. I spotted this in a picture of a household sale and knew I had to have it for this exact space. Later that day I found the perfect vintage oil painting to be displayed on it.
The second piece I found was this incredible antique mirror. The owners had purchased it from an estate sale over 50 years ago but believe it may have originally used as a pier mirror in a theater dressing room in the late 1800s. How freaking cool is that?! Typically Kurt is not as thrilled about my antique finds as I am but even he is obsessed with this one! That’s a win in my book!
Adding Cozy Vibes
When moving into a new house or starting from scratch in a room, it can be challenging to make it feel cozy. I have found a few simple tricks to overcome this challenge. The first may not be a surprise, add antiques! Adding older pieces with character instantly cozy up a space. Regardless of your decor style, vintage and antique pieces can always be incorporated. Another trick is to add greenery. Real, dried, or faux, anything works! My other main trick is to add a lot of cozy textures. The best way to do this is by adding throws and pillows.
Fun Fact: The dried bouquet hanging from the antique frame was from our wedding. I love adding sentimental pieces like this throughout our home.
