Keeping floors clean can seem like an impossible task, especially when they are white. I’ve finally found an easy way to keep our white floors clean using the Bissell Crosswave X7.

Do white floors show more dirt
When we first bought our fixer upper farmhouse it was very dark inside (see more of our farmhouse when we first bought it HERE). In an effort to brighten it up, I painted everything white, including the floors. I am often asked how I keep my white floors clean and if my white floors show dirt more easily. We live on a working farm with lots of animals. There is often dirt and mud being tracked into our home so yes, our floors get dirty often. In my opinion, the floors are dirty whether you can see it or not so that didn’t deter me from painting them white. I share more about our painted floors and how I paint our wood and tile floors HERE.
How to keep floors clean
I’ll be honest, I’ve struggled to keep our white floors clean in our kitchen over the years. This room receives the most traffic and often times dirty shoes are worn through this room. Other rooms have been easy to keep up on with normal cleaning but the kitchen has been another story. Using a regular mop seemed to get dirt stuck in the grout lines and sweeping, vacuuming, and hand mopping was too time consuming to do as frequently as needed. This left me searching for an easier way to clean my floors more frequently.
What is the best wet/dry Vacuum Mop?
I spent hours researching various vacuum/ mop tools. I considered the automatic ones but didn’t feel they were a good fit for us. We have too many toys laying around and I didn’t think it would be able to easily move from room to room since our floors are different levels. I also wanted something I could easily use upstairs without having to re-program every time. I eventually came across the Bissell Crosswave X7 and it sounded too good to be true.
Bissell Crosswave X7
There are a few different versions of the Bissell Crosswave. I was between the Crosswave Pet Pro and the Crosswave X7. The Pet Pro was appealing because it was a bit cheaper and had a larger tank but it needs to be plugged in. The Crosswave X7 had a smaller tank but was cordless. I decided the cordless option would be the best fit for what I was looking for. I was a bit concerned about the battery dying before I was done cleaning but this has not been an issue.
Pros and Cons of the Bissell Crosswave X7
Pros
- very easy to use since it is cordless
- plenty of battery life in my experience
- easy to lift and move around
- makes cleaning up muddy shoe and paw prints quick and easy
- can control when it releases water with a simple trigger under the handle
- filter makes it easy to separate waste from the dirty water when emptying the tank
- self cleaning (game changer!)
- saves a ton of time
- makes frequent floor cleaning much more manageable
Cons
- needs to be emptied and refilled multiple times
- needs a charging base
- doesn’t get right up to the edge of trim
- slightly loud (noise level is comparable to my shark vacuum)
Conclusion
I am very happy with the Bissell Crosswave X7. It is exactly what I needed to help me maintain a cleaner home. It doesn’t replace the occasional deep clean, but it is perfect for easily keeping our floors clean in between. The X7 has been a game changer for me so I wanted to share my experience to help others trying to decide if its right for them.
