Hosting holiday gatherings can be stressful. Between cleaning, decorating, cooking, and more, it is hard to find the time to do it all. This year I decided to create a simple last minute hot cocoa bar and I am so glad I did!
Why every holiday party needs a simple cocoa bar
When we have guests over at the farm my main goal is for them to feel comfortable. One of the simplest ways to feel comfortable is feeling welcomed to help yourself to what you need. What a better way to send this message than with a simple cocoa bar?! This can be set up on a table in the corner or on a small tray next to the coffee pot/kettle depending on what your space allows.
Keep it Simple
Like most of us, I did not have a lot of time to get ready for our holiday gathering so I had to prioritize what I really wanted to get done. I knew I wanted to create a simple cocoa bar, but I did not want to spend any time or money going out to purchase things. Therefore, I only used items I already had.
Simple Cocoa Bar Necessities
Every cocoa bar can look different depending on you and your guests needs. Below is a list of items that can be included to create a welcoming bar that guests feel comfortable helping themselves to.
- Kettle (I am obsessed with my retro style SMEG)
- Cocoa/Coffee/Tea
- Jars filled with marshmallows, mints, chocolate
- Straws/ Stir Sticks
- Cream & Sugar
- A variety of mugs to choose from
Cocoa Bar Extras
To add an extra layer of cozy to our simple cocoa bar I included a few Christmas decorations. Instead of going out and spending time and money (two things I did not have a lot of being so last minute), I simply used items I already had! Below are some ideas for items to include to cozy up any cocoa bar.
- Small Trees
- Greenery Sprigs
- A large sign or chalk board
- String lights
- Table runner
- Cozy Candle
- Porcelain houses
- Bottle brush trees
- Cutting boards
- Small stool to add height
- Serving trays
- Garland
